Channel guides, interactive channel listings and other navigational aids are highly important to ensure easy and comfortable service browsing, visibility of new services and viewer loyalty.

The ASTRA Channel Finder application allows enhancement of the channel guide, the Electronic Program Guide user interface. It provides an attractive, genre-based navigational tool for easy selection of TV and radio channels. Through SES-Astra transmitted genre metadata, it also categorizes available channels under the corresponding genre (News, Sports, etc.) and notifies viewers about new available service. In addition, some additional channel information, such as different available languages, electronic program guides, etc. is available, enabling channels filtering and thus making user browsing even more pleasantly.

The application is implemented for MHP platform and was presented by SES-Astra on IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) trade-show in 2004.
